Psychometric Assessments

In order to understand and gain better insights about an individual’s mental health and well-being, mental health professionals need to administer several tests to uncover an individual’s different areas of mind.

A Psychometric Assessment helps to understand how a person thinks, learns, feels and behaves. It consists of a set of tests and procedures that are administered and interpreted to form a comprehensive impression of a person’s overall functioning. The goal of psychometric assessment is to better understand a person’s strengths and weaknesses, social, emotional and behavioral aspects to identify the root cause of the problems which they may be facing in their day-to-day life.

How Does Psychometric Assessment Help You?

As mentioned above, it is often difficult to interpret a person’s emotional and behavioural problems without assessment. A psychological assessment helps to understand an individual’s overall functioning to arrive at a diagnosis and recommend a treatment plan.

Psychological tests may also involve observing someone’s interactions and behaviour. Based on the result of the test, an inference will be drawn about the individual’s inherent abilities and potential. Psychological testing may cover a wide range of areas depending upon the present condition of an individual. Based on the information provided by the client or the by stander, a psychologist may suggest assessments for following aspects –

  • Intellectual functioning
  • Emotional problems
  • Behavioral problems
  • Social Aspects
  • Personality
  • Mood
Based on the findings of these assessments, mental health professionals arrive at a conclusion and diagnose a client with any mental health illess, and further plan of action is discussed with the client.
